About Us

The Center for Dialogue and Solidarity - Rome is an independent organization registered and established in Rome-Italy. CDS-R is overseen by an office and a board of advisors and experts. As a non-profit and non-political organization, CDS-R will strive to institutionalize human rights, and women rights, advance peace and promote democratic values ​​with global humanitarian methods through research and dialogue. -The Center for Dialogue and Solidarity-Rome will conduct research on the human rights and women rights situation in Afghanistan under peaceful conditions and relations and facilitate dialogue between different parties and stakeholders in order to support, strengthen and mutual understanding for a peacefully Afghanistan.

Kamal Fakhruddin

Founder

Kamal Fakhruddin, MA in law from Tor Vergata university of Rome, graduate of Military Academy of Modena & Carabinieri Officers School of Rome, former Chief of Staff of afghan ministry of interior and former afghan police general.

Vas Shenoy

Honorary Senior Advisor

Vas Shenoy is a journalist, political commentator and entrepreneur. He is the founder of the Dialogue on Democracy, a Rome based forum which brings elected representatives of global democracies together. He also leads several not-for-profit initiatives and is a serial entrepreneur and advisor in the technology and renewable energy space serving as a mentor for several companies.. He advises countries, institutions and corporations in Africa, Middle East and Asia. In his almost 25 year career he has worked in over 30 countries. He is a member of the Istituto Affari Italiani (IAI), Associazione Italiana di Studi Sanscriti (AISS). He writes for various Italian and English language news platforms including Formiche, Jerusalem Post, Times of Israel, CNN News18, Firstpost, Il Giornale among others..

Frozan Nawabi

Founder

Frozan Nawabi, former Director General of Human Rights and Women International Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan. completed BA in Sharia Law studies at the Kabul University, and earned Master's degree in European Policies and Crisis Management at the Spienza University, Rome - Italy. Former Afghan diplomat , Italy - Rome and Berlin - Germany . advocate of human rights , women and children rights beside being a civil servant for more then 25 years.

Zaki Kohistani

Zaki Kohistani, MA In Security and Strategic Studies form Turin University, graduate of Military Academy of and Istituto Alti Studi per la difesa, former Afghanistan defense attaché in Rome.and former ANDSF officer.

Ahmad Shakir Ahmadi

Ahmad Shaker Ahmadi, MA in political science and Public Administration from AYBU-Turkey. former Afghanistan's defense attaché in Turkey and former CEO of FANOOS Private University in Kabul.

Dr. Farzana Nawabi

Dr.Farzana Nawabi graduated from Kabul medical science university. Former president of Afghanistan dentist association, board member of Afghanistan medical council, oral and Maxillofacial surgery specialist in Aliabad teaching hospital, head of stomatology faculty and lecturer at Numan Sadat university, Child and women rights activist.

Zamir Shams

Website Manager

Zamir Shams has completed bachelor Degree in computer science department of Software engineering at RANA university, Kabul. Specialized in Cybersecurity/Web & defense management at the Uttrakhand technical university of India. Former Platoon commander at national defense university of Afghanistan, English instructor with British council in ANAOA, and Website administrator of an Italian NGO, Italy.

Murid Partaw

Board Member

Murid Partaw is a PhD Candidate at University of South Florida, with a research focus in democratization, state-building, and peace and security studies. He is a media contributor featured on VOA, BBC World, and TRT World International and a featured writer for Foreign Policy Journal (FPJ) and The National Interest. Murid is an alum of the Near East South Asia Center for Strategic Studies (NESA) in Washington, DC. Prior to academia, Murid served as Afghanistan's Senior National Representative (SNR) to the U.S. Central Command (USCENTCOM).

Prof. Shoaib Rahim

Board Member

Shoaib Rahim is an Associate Professor of Practice in Management at American University of Afghanistan (AUAF). He has a rich background working in the public sector ranging from his days at the Ministry of Defense, to serving as the Acting Mayor of Kabul and finally working on Afghanistan’s peace process. His academic involvement over the years has been with AUAF and he is currently a Visiting Scholar at the New School in New York.

Bismellah Taban

Board Member

Besmillah Taban, was born in Ghazni Province of Afghanistan, has Masters degree in Theory of State and Law, Constitutional and Administrative Law , from Al-Farabi Kazakh National University (KazNU), BA in Law in Kateb University and first Bachelor’s from Police Accademy in Kabul, he worked in law enforcement’s sector with government in Afghanistan, He has experience in the academic studies of criminology, Policing (POP, COP,TOP and IOP), local governance, public security, public order and HR, He was the General Director of Crime Investigation Department (CID) in the Ministry of Interior Affairs of Afghanistan

What is the CDS-R?

The CDS-R is mainly established for achieving civil rights, human rights goals, social welfare, dialogue, political stability, military cohesion, organizing and managing academic etc.

How does the CDS-R work?

The CDS-R Corps is the pool of young people who register their interest to take part in solidarity-related projects, and who agree with and will uphold the Mission and Principles of the CDS-R Solidarity.

Who can join the CDS-R?

Solidarity is all open to any interested clients. To participate in volunteering activities, you must be legally resident in the EU Member States in order to achieve civil and human rights goals.

What am I committing to if I join the CDS-R?

When you join the CDS-R, you will be asked to confirm that you agree with and will uphold the Mission and Principles of the CDS-R Solidarity. Your details will then be stored in the CDS-R Solidarity system/ online platforms. As part of the registration process you will be asked for your basic personal information, the type of projects you would be interested in, and the experience and knowledge you can bring to CDS-R Solidarity projects. After this, you will be asked to complete a more detailed profile, including when you might be available to take part in projects.

What happens after I register?

After you register, you can either apply to published opportunities that you will see on the main page or wait to be contacted by an organisation with an offer. Once you are contacted, you can either accept or decline the offer. You are free, of course, to ask for more information and discuss the opportunity with the organisation directly. If you are matched by a host organisation, you may need to find a supporting organisation in your country. You can look for it in the database of volunteering organisations. Sometimes a host organisation helps you with finding a supporting organisation.
